Centre Esplai Albergue

We were apprehensive at first about this property because when we booked it, we were under the impression that it was a hotel. It is in fact a hostel. Our limited experience made us worry it would be lower standard and communal. Not at all true of this place. It was spartan—that is, no frills such as a phone in the room. The restroom was very basic. But there was TV, internet, a private room and a private restroom in the room, a balcony. The room was very clean. Not flashy but clean and comfortable. The hallway to the rooms is honestly one of the most lovely modern hotel hallways I have ever been in. Just lovely (I am an architectural designer.) While we came to the hotel at night after dark and left slightly before sunrise, the hotel design is modern and really nice also. It is just no frills, but still a delightful place. I also liked the eco-friendly design component—using gray water, passive solar lighting and ventilation. That was a plus. We selected this hotel because we had a 7 am flight. The hotel is blocks from a train to the airport and a 5-10 minute drive by Uber or cab to the airport. So it allowed us to not have to get up as early. Definitely would do this again.

The place was really clean and the bed was excellent, firm and supportive, which is helpful if you do a lot of walking. The staff was really friendly and helpful. The whole place has a good vibe. Best of all, it was entirely accessible, with ramps for the toilets, showers with chairs and wheelchair access, and braille signs everywhere. Even though I don't use them personally, it was good to see somebody cares enough to make an accessible place to stay. The building is eco friendly and has even temperature across all rooms. The breakfast was modest but appropriate for a hostel, I was glad to have it at all in Barcelona.

We had a twin room which was part of a new building. It is a nice place to stay in. Modern and clean. The Centre is very big. It has a nice yard, a place to eat breakfast which was included, a terrace, another room for dinner and many other facilities. The room was nice and clean and I appreciated the effort taken towards the environment. It is very close to the airport, 10 min walk to the metro station + 2 stations by metro. So this is very convenient when you have early morning flights.

We spent one night in this hotel as we wanted to be close to the airport because of early flight. And this hotel was so much more than we expected. We stayed at the new building which is really nicely decorated and very clean. We really liked the cool skylight in the bathroom. There was a nice little hotel restaurant where we had dinner. There wasn't much choices, only a couple of meals, but very tasty and for reasonable price. The breakfast was included in the price of the room and offered some basic choices. The hotel surroundings and gardens look really good which adds up to overall nice and enjoyable experience. There were a lot of ammenities in the hotel, but sadly we didin't have time to explore them.

Close to the Parc Nou metro station (900m) and just 2 metro stations away from the airport. Rooms are spacious and clean. Nice balcony views for corner rooms. Staff is helpful. Spaces for common seating, game room, dining room, etc.
